The Chevrolet Trax is a small SUV that is agile in the city and comfortable on the highway thanks to its compact body and turbo engine. At Temel Servis, our workshop in Seyhan, Adana provides independent service for the Trax, especially its 1.4 Turbo engine and naturally aspirated options, in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive forms. The Trax's most common engine is the 1.4 Turbo (A14NET), and the issue we see most on it is that the PCV (crankcase ventilation) diaphragm is integrated into the intake manifold. When the diaphragm ages, you get idle fluctuation, high oil consumption, a whistling noise and turbo pressure loss; the fix is usually manifold or PCV service. This engine uses a timing chain; because reduced chain tension can cause a cold rattle and the risk of the chain jumping, on noisy cars we assess the chain set as a whole.
Another classic item on turbo engines is carbon build-up in the intake tract and on the valves; on these direct-injection engines the deposits can cause power loss and misfire. Water pump and thermostat leaks are also among the leading cooling problems on the Trax. In Adana's hot climate the turbo engine runs hotter, so we recommend a cooling system and intercooler check at every service. Spark plugs and ignition coils tire more on a turbo engine; at the first sign of misfire we check these items first.
The Trax commonly has a 6-speed automatic; neglecting fluid and filter service causes harsh shifts and delayed engagement, and this service matters even more in a hot climate. On an AWD Trax we check the fluid service of the system that sends power to the rear axle. Because of the SUV construction, the suspension on the Trax carries more load than a passenger car; shock absorbers, ball joints and control-arm bushings can tire early on rough roads, and a clunk in the steering or uneven tyre wear calls for a front-end check.

The most common cause is a failed PCV diaphragm; crankcase pressure can no longer be balanced and oil escapes into the turbo line, causing a whistle. We confirm it by inspecting the manifold and PCV.
The chain does not change at a fixed interval like a belt, but it should be renewed when there is stretch and noise. If there is a cold rattle we check the chain and tensioner set.
Usually spark plugs, ignition coils or carbon build-up in the intake. We isolate the source with diagnostic readings and inspection.
